Default why are s2000 hardtop prices so crazy

I wanted to get a hardtop for my car but this is just insanity...$2k for a used one. Look at the prices on a 996 hartop...

http://search-completed.ebay.com/porsche-h...pZ1QQsacatZ6028

Its like $4k new and everybody knows their stuff is pricey...but why are they less than one for our car used? Its not like they sell a lot of hardtops for the 996.

Something Porsche cheaper than Honda...suprised

Just a rant!

Ok, but the 996 is 2.5 times as much as an S2000, so I think that puts you ahead.

Didn't the hardtop come with the 996 cabriolet? If so, then that significantly reduces demand.

S2000 OEM hardtop is ~$3,000 retail.
Boxster OEM hardtop is $2,3xx retail.

Both are made of aluminum and weigh the same at 50lb.

I can't find the retail price for the S2000 top anywhere, not even on Honda's official website. It is not available as an option, but hardtop cover and storage rack are :rolleye: Wonder if they have stopped making them... at least temporarily.

I have been looking for a while.... Nothing availalbe ...

2 place said the plant that makes them.... Burnt down
and looking for new plant to make them......

hearsay....

I'm in California and emailed HT-guy.... hes on the east coast and $300.00
to ship it. Could it be recieved in good condition?
I heard everything comes from West coast....
maybe they keep them here and ship out to where they need them?
I'd go to San Pedro or Long Beach I'm 50 miles at the most

and The price... is Not Fair or Reasonalbe $2500.00 to $3000.00, the only good thing is it is painted to factory specks.... it will all match, I hope

I wonder what the dealers pay? $1500-$1750 plus mark up and shipping

I spoke to hardtopguy last week and he said the wait is about 2 weeks to get the hardtop now if they don't have it in stock.

And the good about the hardtop is if you can buy it used (around $2K) you can probably turn around later and sell it for the same price.

Hey, and just think you need another 500 for the mounting kit.
