Thumbs up Why is the S2000 so heavy?

Well over all it is not super heavy or anything, but don't know why it is as heavy as many 4 seater coupes and all. It's a super small 2 seater would think it would weigh at least a couple hundred pounds less. My eclipse GST which all the parts, hood, doors everything seems super heavy and it is much bigger and only weighs like a hundred pounds more. Why is that?
Parts seem light on the S2000 also.
Where is all the weight hidden?
I searched and nothing came up, probably there but just didn't see it.

For a vehicle most of the weight comes from the drivetrain, suspension, and the frame. So the size of the passenger compartment and what is within it doesn't make a huge difference in the overall weight of the vehicle. Also the fact that the s2k is a convert actually adds weight(someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.) because to make up for the lack of stiffening provided by the roof there must be extra bracing in the rest of the body.

Stiff as hell chassis has a lot to do with it. Try jacking up one corner to see how much it flexes, then do the same with your Eclipse.

Convertibles are heavy. simple fact.
because of no roof there is always more bracing on the body/frame
