Default wife driving my car

Hi guys. I just got my s2k a few months ago and having a lot of fun with it. My wife drove stick a few times and understands the concept. I took her to a parking lot to practice her launches, and she released the clutch too fast and the car hopped forward. Happened a few times. Is this bad for the clutch? I want to take her back out tomorrow to practice some more but I dont want to kill the clutch. I dont mind a little wear but I dont want to wear it hard.

try finding a 5-spd beater and make her learn on that. you'll feel better.

My main question is, how much damage can she do with these bad launches?

its really bad for the clutch when shes revs it up high and dumps it. but if the rpm is around 2-3 when she lets go of the clutch, its not that bad. in this case, the rear differential is the main part that has a lot of stress.

Yep I made sure she didnt rev too high and basically been trying to teach her to clutch all the way, slowly depressing the clutch as she progressively presses the gas pedal. Unfortunetely she just seems to let go the clutch too fast and doesnt trottle enough to get the car moving. Thanks for replying!!

I've been letting my 18-year-old son learn stick on my S. He's slipped the clutch a couple of times, enough to smell, but I am sure it's still okay.

Actually, I would worry more about the engine. These low torque engines shouldn't have any undue stress on them at low rpm, IMO. I know honda engines are very tightly spec'd, but I try to never let my car bog, or take off under too low rpm.

I'm assuming that you don't currently have a wife? (Not a gf) Come on...I love my S, but I love my wife even more.

yeah, you have to keep your priorities straight - I'd rather sleep with my wife and dream about the car, than sleep in the car and dream about my wife. I let my wife drive the "S" anytime she wants - she knows how much it means to me - so she tried it once for a few mile - was really having a hard time picking out what gear she was in - she just needs more practice - but we all did, didn't we? Anyway she loves to ride, but doesn't prefer to drive it - And it didn't hurt to buy her a new CR-V the month before I got the "S".

Guys, who take care of their wives - drive happy
