Much lighter car, with a really good power to weight ratio.
According to R&T's "Best All-Around Sports Car" test back in 2005, the Elise is 1.23 seconds faster around Buttonwillow West Loop than a regular AP2 S2000. How much faster is the CR than a regular S2000? Sounds like it could be a pretty evenly matched race.

Dont forget to take driver skills into account.
I suck with my car, stock S2000s can blow me away
But, the CR really only modified the suspension and made a stiffer chassis. Most track setup S2000s do that already if not more (way more).

Word on the street is that the CR is slower than an AP2.

Lotus Elise rough stock dynojet whp ~ 167/1984 pounds= 11.88 pounds per rwhp
S2000 CR rough stock whp (?) i think about 220/2650 =12.04
(both dry weights)
Power to weight is close, but Elise is almost 700 pounds lighter, cornering and braking are probably much better.
I would guess the Elise would be quicker around the track. I think the gearing is a little more favorable in the Elise as well. They test 0-60 at about 4.5-4.7 seconds, much quicker than a CR.
