As the title says, does anyone know if a hardtop will fit in the back of a '98 Expedition?

 

I don't think so. I believe the interior width of the Expedition in the cargo area is around 48-50" (or so) and the interior shoulder room in the S is 51" and the hardtop is wider than that. Height and length shouldn't be an issue if the second row seats fold flat, but I think the width is the problem.

 

if its gonna be boxed up could you tie it up on top of the suv?

 

Strap it to the roof.
The box is not that heavy, nothing 2 or 3 people can't manage.

Or do what I did- install it yourself in the parking lot (at the dealership for me) only took a half hour.

 

I don't think so. It barely fit in an '09 Odyssey with all the seats in the back taken out.

Yes it will fit by itself. I bought a used hardtop last year and picked it up in my '97 Expedition. I doubt it would fit if it's in a box.

 

why wouldnt it? damn our cars are like toys and an expedition i not a small car
