No, the car has a rev limiter that either cuts the fuel or the spark, I'm not sure which, but you'll know when you hit it.

The only way to go past redline is to downshift into the wrong gear causing a mechanical over-rev, which will damage your engine.

In that case you will hit the rev-limiter. You can bump it for a second or two but if you don't shift it will basically cut the gas for a second or two. When you see the red lights kind of flicker it is time to shift. Try it, you will like it. You really haven't lived until you bump the rev-limiter.

There is a difference between hitting the limiter and bumping the limiter. You can bump it for a second or two. But if you hit it, it does suck.

The engine will not cut out until the third redline flash. Still, with an AP1 the tranny gearing matches the engine as Honda desired it to. Soooo you can shift well short of redline (like say 8600 or so) and you will always up shift into the VTEC band. AP2's have to speed shift at redline and slip the clutch in order to stay in VTEC.

AP1 FTW

actually, fuel cut is at 9200rpm. Not sure why you wanna go that high unless you're on a tight autocross course...

Are you sure about the 9200? I thought I read on here that when using ecu management systems the stock fuel cut off is actually a hair shy of 9,000. Something like 8990 or something?

The fuel cut is almost always above the redline.

Only way to pass 9000rpm is to mechanically force the engine to go that fast...meaning a mis-shift.
