Default Will a shortblock fit in the S2K trunk?

Long story, but I need to know if a shortblock will fit into the S's trunk. It's the bottom end with the oil pan attached.

We can take the trunk carpeting out to make more room. It's a long story - but I need to know if this will work. Thanks!

I thought it does fit with the tool tray removed?

An OEM wheel with tire will fit in the trunk easily with the carpet and tools taken out. I'm guessing the shortblock isn't going to work though

I guess I'll tell the story - I installed my Whiteline front sway bar today, and had a few beers beforehand (I didn't eat anything today, and I'm pretty slim), so I guess I was just barely buzzed when I started. I went about jacking the car up, and put my hydraulic jack under the car and jacked the car up by the oil pan - yeah I know - I have NO idea WTF I was thinking. I finished the sway bar install, put the wheels back on, and go to lower the car and I reach for the jack.

Well, the beers had worn off by this point and I look at the jack and immediately realize what I did. I put the stock jack quickly under the car so that I could take the hydraulic one out as quickly as possible, and when the jack came out there was oil on it. A little drip was hanging from my oil pan - and I'm a complete retard.

My friend has a spare shortblock and oil pan in North Carolina so I have to figure out a way to get it here tomorrow. I then have to tap the pan with a new fitting for my turbo oil line.

I really want to kill myself right now

My brothers baritone case wouldnt even fit in my trunk today. It was pretty funny watching him hold on to it with the top down after I picked him up from school.

So you broke the oil pan? If that is all, just replace that part. It will fit in the trunk. But the short block would be tight and very heavy in an area of the car that is very thin. I think fitting it in is only part of the issue. I personally think it will fit. But as you drove, it would damage the trunk pan and lid. It is not worth it IMHO. Rent a car it is cheaper.

Yeah, I'm not trying to replace the whole block, I just need the pan. My friend needs to get the block down here anyway as he's trying to sell it so we thought we'd do both at the same time (get pan, and shortblock on same trip).

It looks like we will be able to borrow an Explorer to get it done. Hopefully we won't flip over

What were you thinking of putting in the front with all that free space?

Its pretty risky to try and jam it into the trunk. I'd worried abput the engine getting tossed around and doing some damage. The S2K trunk is a bit oddly proportioned so I'm not sure how it would work.

To give you an idea, I did once put in a shortblock rotary 13B in the back of my '87 325e and the trunk fully closed. And just about the biggest thing I put in there was an Evo shortblock engine. A friend and I got a lot of funny looks when driving around with it. Good thing you got an SUV to do the job.
