Default Will it start?

Last November I put the S2k away for storage during the winter. Tomorrow's the first day I can legally drive it again (March!) I really NEED to drive it to work, since my winter car (E30 318iS) won't start due to a failed timing chain that somehow bored a hole in my cylinder block!

Threw the battery back in there (was on trickle charge the whole winter), took off the car cover, reinstalled the wipers, typed in the radio code, programmed the express-down windows, tested the lights... do you think it'll fire up when I hit the button tomorrow morning after a 4 month sleep? Car is a 2000 model with 100500km, silverstone... The anticipation is killing me.....

Nope, might as well give it to me.

Should work fine. Not sure about how good the fuel will be unless you put some stabiler in it.

Jawohl!!! You treated it right - why wouldn't it start? I assume you put fresh oil in it before you let it hibernate, right? I like to shoot a bit of ATF into each cylinder bore, but that is likely overkill. My car had sat for 5 weeks with only my Deltran charger on the batt, and it fired up yesterday as if it were July.

If all the accessories were working, then the battery is PROBABLY good. The starter will be the real test of the batteries staying power. Let us know.

Fuel should not be a big problem after 4 mos.

I'll bet your fine.

Yea, I just did an oil change before the winter sleep, and filled up the tank as full as possible. Tyres pumped up extra, too. Battery has been on trickle charger all winter long. Just before winter sleep I reached my 100k milestone, and I had put up a post with some pics of the changeover on the Autobahn here. I posted the same pic on the German forum but the admin took it off because the picture size was too big. Germans....

Just after the damn Bimmer failed to start on the FIRST day of my new job here do I have doubts that my karma is in good enough standing....

I would drain a little oil out and dump a fresh quart on the heads before you start it up, but it will start no problem.

You should change all the rest of your fluids through-out the rest of the car as well.

Will do tranny, diff, clutch, and brake fluids before the racing season at the Ring (next week!)
