window tape wont come off! help!
I ended up getting about 6 inches done, and had to cover it up with electrical tape until I get more time to pull the rest off. Tried to use a heat gun, and a razor to get it started. But it would only come off in pieces about 1/4 the size of your fingernail. Any suggestions??
This is why I'm not going to try pulling mine. It's been on there for 6+ years and I can't imagine it will come off very easily.
Everyone I know that has removed it did it within the first couple years.
Sorry I can't be more help.

A razor??
Stick with the heat gun. Peel up a little bit the whole width of the section and when you have enough to grab hold of pull it at a 90 degree angle to the windshield frame. You can only pull a tiny bit (1/4-1/2") at a time before regripping as low as you can. If you pull more it will stretch and break and just piss you off more.
Use Goo-gone or 3M adhesive remover to get off the adhesive that is left behind.
Mine wasn't too bad, but mine is also an 06.

I took my tape off in a blistering 100+ degree weather about 3 months after I got my 06. It came off in a huge goop of adhesive. It was a huge pain to use goo-gone to take off the residue, but the tape came off in the 3 large pieces in which it came in. What were your conditions?

I just left my '01 under the afternoon sun for a couple of hours and then went to work on it. Was very very easy for me. Did not even use a heat gun or anything. Peeled right off and left hardly any residue behind. Paint looked perfect underneath as well. The second side started to get a little harder as I moved the car out of the sun as it was too hot. Looks so much better now I think with the top down.
Yeah try that out. Really hurt my fingers doing it, but I just had to grit my teeth and work fast lol. Felt like it was burning my finger tips off, but all was fine when I finished. Once I got it started it would just peel off. Not in one piece but was still real easy for me. Maybe I got lucky or maybe just from it baking in the sun for a good while first did it for me.
