windscreen frames

Default windscreen frames

was looking a few pictures today and thought about it

does the windscreen frames on the s2k come colour coded or black?

i have seen numerous of s2k of each and was wondering what is the deal with this.

was it changed in certain models or?

They are all painted body color. The black is tape that can be removed if you desire. Paint quality under the tape may not be without blimishes in some cars.

I believe the MY08 are coming without the tape.

Here in the states they come with a black sticker on them and it is painted under the sticker. alot of people take the sticker off.
It looks like the ones you posted without the black are euro models, so they might not come with the black sticker.

Euro cars do not come with the tape. USDM cars (Except Berlina) are color matched underneath and have tape on top.

Theoretically, the tape is for better flow with the soft top and the dealer should remove the tape when installing a hardtop.

Not true Berlina comes with the tape also.

Yeah I was noticing on mine the other day that when it gets dirty or hasn't been polished up or waxed in a while, that the windshield frame doesn't look the same as the rest of the paint on the car. I think mine MIGHT have tape on it.

Instead of pulling it off, I'm going to wax, polish and shine the crap out of it. I'm unsure after 5/6 years how it might turn out if I were to pull tape off so I'd rather just skip it.

I have seen an 00, 01, and 03 all BB and none have the tape. No they did not remove it.

and yes the one i showed arent all from the USDM.

i am actually located in Australia so the s2k we get here are a bit different.

so i guess they usualy have tape on them then. i will take a closer inspection next time.

can't wait to get my 1st s2k
