Default Windsheild Replacement Question

Hey Guys. My first post, been lurking around a bit.

Got my S2K in Nov, 2003 Red. Its a dream machine!

The only issue I have is a hairline scratch on the inside of the windshield, dead center of course. I took it to the dealer, he said it is not something he would be comfortable trying to polish out. He said that he would replace the windshield for me, new car deserves new glass.

This car is like a new baby to me. I have replaced windshields before with no issue. Since there is so much collective experience on our car out there, wanted to ask if there is anything I should be concerned about here. ...maybe I am just being the baby.

I haven't had a problem (except for the fact that my windshields keep getting trashed by stones!!!). I replaced one and it was trashed within two weeks.

I don't know if you are paying for this or not, but a windshield replacement is usually something you can have done for free. Most auto glass repair places will cover up to $100 of your deductible. Since this is a comprehensive claim, it won't effect your rates and usually the comprehensive deductible is quite a bit lower than collision (mine for example is $100). Even better they come to you for replacement. I was able to get mine replaced for free while at work.

I got mine replaced for free at work but be wary of the installer. My installer installed one that had scratches in it and I didnt notice it until I got home. The guy came out again and said he noticed these scratches, called the shop, and they said to go ahead and install it anyway. I called the manager and raised hell

The dealer is replacing it under warranty, using a OEM Honda windshield. They use an outside service to do this, but it will be done at the dealership. Probably best, as it is pretty cold in MD right now.

I had a windshield replaced on my 83 RX7 back in the 90's, same deal as you guys described, insurance covered and came out to me while at work. I did not get OEM glass; however, and was unhappy as there was optical problems, upper half and lower half had a visually noticiable shift.
