Windshield Breakage
I have had my S for a little over three months and im on my 3rd windshield!!!! It seems like any little rock that even scores a glancing blow to the winshield leaves a nice little chip. I have had four rock strikes that left chips/cracks in three months. One week after i got the car i needed a new windshield. This leads me to the question: Is the windshield in the S2000 more fragile than that of other cars or is it just my bad luck?
wow, 3 windshields in 3 months! I'm on my second S2000 over a combined total of 85,000 kilometres and 29 months and I've never had to replace a windshield.
They do get sand blasted pretty badly though, just because of the angle it sits at.

Are the chips so bad they can't be repaired? I've already had 2 repairs in 4 months; it's pretty hard to stay back from people when you're in heavy traffic all the time (stupid Seattle suburbs)
I had a similar experience. I lost 3 windshields in 3 months from last September through November. It is very frustrating. The company I used to replace the windshields was not using OEM. They finally put an OEM windshield in the last time and it is holding up much better although it has two of they eyelet style cracks already. I hear those are repairable so I am currently looking into getting it repaired.

I think we get more window strikes because the S2000 is closer to the ground and more in the normal trajectory of rocks coming from car and truck tires at low angles. I also think that the windshield is at a slightly higher angle that may result in more damage during strikes. I have two chips in my windshield. The first happened on the very first drive in my new (to me) S2000. The second occurred during the first drive of this season when a horse trailer tossed a rock into the windshield. My observations are in no way scientific. I pretty much guarantee that you won't get chipped windshields if you don't drive your S2000.
It can happen. When I was commuting 180 miles a day in my lowered Civic, I took 4 chips in my windshield in about 10 days. One of them spit glass into the interior of the car. I'd say it's more due to wrong place wrong time. The angle and speed at which it hits probably has something to do with it too. The car being so low probably contributes to it too. Maybe you shouldn't buy a new windshield right away. Let this one take some more hits.
