Default Winter storage cover??

I've always looked forward to winter in New England, but this will be the first year that I can't wait for Spring to arrive! I'll be garaging my S2000 for the winter and have a question.

I've never "garaged" a car before and wonder if there's any reason why I'd want to cover the car with a "dust" cover. I see that some car covers are intended for outside and some for inside. I can see why you'd want an outside cover, but does it make much sense to cover the car with an "indoor" cover?? Is "dust" that bad?

I guess it matters what condition your surroundings are. Bottom line, don't cheap out on a car cover.

Car covers are good. They prevent minor scrapes, etc from happening. My car is covered all the time when it's in the garage.

As said above, get a good cover.

Do you have a twin garage? Lots of space between the cars? I use a cover during the winter for the simple fact that I don't want people to scrape against the S2000 when they get out of my other car (space is at a premium at my house!) and also I don't want the S2000 to get hit by slush and water from the other car's tires when I drive into the garage. Perhaps a bit anal retentive, but that's just me.

Make sure you get a good cover, preferably one with a soft lining on the inside. I am reasonably impressed with the stock Honda cover. Get it cheap(er) at HandA.

OK, I'm convinced. When selecting one, it appears that the two best indoor covers I've found are the "Tan Flannel" (not sure who makes it) and the Dustop (by Covercraft). Anyone know if these better than the Honda cover, or just more expensive?

I use the factory Honda cover everytime the car is in the garage. It fits like a glove. For indoor use, I think it's more than enough as a "dust cover."

I have the Dustop cover and have been very happy with it. It fits great, is very soft (gentle to the finish) and is thick enough to protect from minor bumps (my kids know better but I still don't trust them around my baby)!

Bert,

first of all, great pics of the Fall Colors.

I use the Honda cover for the winter. I hook up a batter minder (won't fry the battery and can stay connected) and then put the cover over the car.

The car stays nice and I don't have to worry about abrasive concrete dust on the car.

Keep in mind that flannel covers can "ball up" on convertible tops.

I've had mine since 2000 with no problems. Maybe if you put it on and take if off frequently (ie. daily) you would be prone to this "Balling".
