Hi guy I have a question if anybody can help me out. I have a 03 ap1 with 40k miles and it does not want to go into 6th gear all the other gears are like butter but 6th gear is a no go in, could it be that one of the forks are bent or is there a issue that I don't know about oh and yeah I did do a search.

 

does it go in when the car is off?

No it does not want to go in gear I tried everything ON/OFF double clutching and its not the fluid either I changed it with redline synthetic when I got the car in April at 32k miles. And the other comment skipping gears I never do that either unless the previous owner used to do it.

Let me guess you were running an HPDE and using gears 1-4 for a while and then on the way home suddenly 6th wouldn't work? Now it feels as if there's a bar blocking off 6th gear.

Once upon a time a long time ago there was a bulletin on that which has since disappeared. Something about needing to shift up to 5th or 6th on cool down laps.

It has happened to me and a several of my buddies. Drive it normally for a while and 6th will come back. On mine it would pop out of 6th like a bad synchro for a while so I had to drive with my hand on the lever. Soon it would stay in 6th. I haven't had that problem in quite a while and there has been no apparent long term damage to my car. The last time it showed up was at about 20k and now I'm over 60k miles.

 

Hmmmm I don't know could be a syncro but I never had any issues before with it like grinds or anything. So my next question is I want to throw in a new clutch and flywheel while i have the trans out I want to rebuilt the whole tranny so that I have no issues with it anymore in the future how much do rebuild kits run for what would be a fair price for a shop to do that job.

 

$$$$!$$$$$$$$$$$$$ labor alone for a shop they have 7 hrs for labor to do a clutch. This car so car has been the worst trans to ever take out and re install.. so don't plan on it being cheap at all

 

Hahahahahaahha wow your exactly right but I do go thru the gears and it does feel like a bar is blocking it lol o man and at first it didn't want to go into 6th I take it easy for a few days and it goes in again I start beating on it boom again no 6th gear and now it has been 2 months and it still no 6th gear. But I really think it has a lot to do with the clutch once the clutch gets hot the engagement are not smooth at all so i know that a good clutch will help out a lot to.
