Default Words of Thanks

Thanks to everyone for coming out to the track day at Laguna Seca yesterday. I took the red-eye home to Chicago and am now sitting at work!

Thanks go out to all the organizers, participants, the instructors, Laguna Seca personnel (who were very busy in the morning), the sponsors and all the folks who chipped in and helped along the way (Randy, Kari, Sondra, Mike S., Paul and Josh to name a few).

The day started out slowly with several off-track incidents. I attribute the cold and people being very excited about the event for these issue. We had two "major" accidents, both occuring in about the same place on the track (the turn 3-4 area). One car was drivable, but will require a new sheetmetal on the right side and rear-end while the other had considerable front-end damage. To those affected by these accidents, I hope your cars are returned to "good-as-new" condition. The later part of the day was relatively clean with only a few off-track (no contact) excursions.

My highlight was riding with Jason in the GTRPower's King/Mugen SS2000. Dare I say that I was scared? Jason had his fast lap of the day (up to that point) while I was along and it was somewhere in the 1:45.5 range. It was unbelievable what the car can do with Mugen performance upgrades, good tires, good brake pads and most importantly - a good driver.

I also got some track time of my own in a brand new M3! The car is interesting. Big and Fluffy, but fast as rocket when you step on it. I took it easy in the car, but Jason was seen passing NSX's on the main straight!

It was great to meet many of the people I have come to know through our on-line community. That is the best thing of the events that we have, meeting the people.

Thanks again for making it a great day!

Yeah, I had an excellent time as well. It was great meeting all of you and I was very impressed by the students I had the opportunity to instruct. On top of that, the last instructor session hat I ran was by far my best of the day. I managed a 1:51, which I'm pretty happy with for running street tires. Just had massive amounts of brake fade, is all.

Meat, your new M3 is beautiful, I must say. Like I said at the track, white looks way better on that car in person than I thought it would. I'm definitely considering it for my M3 (getting one this summer). For now, I'll just have to live with my plain-jane silve M Coupe

Cheers,

Kevin

I'd like to take credit for the M3, but it belongs to GTRPower (the owner of the King/Mugen S2000).

Thanks to Nick for the use of the car! It sure was purdy!

I would like to Thank the corner workers who were really on the ball, and saved more than one person from serious accidents.

Nice post...not much to add, but just more thank yous to everyone who particpiated, sponsored, supported or anything else related to the event.

More thanks go out to:

Steve G for doing the event t-shirt and all the web design for the registration process.

Coastal Metals for doing so much with the shirts and donating 100 S2000 calendars for everyone

King Motorsports, Carbotech Engineering, Intercity Lines, RM Racing, Rick's Accessories, Bulletproof Automotive, S2000Online, Comptech and Import Development for sponsoring the event as well...a lot of time goes into developing these relationships and our events wouldn't go off as well without them...

Hrant and ALL the instructors who did a really great job. Big thanks to Krazik for putting all the instructors together. Great job!

Kari for being such a sport in helping get people registered.

Randy and Paul for helping get the next groups to grid for each new session.

And many kudos go out to a tremendously helpful track staff...Carl in the tower was awesome! Gary was very helpful and the corner workers all did a fantastic job.

This the best days I have ever spent at a race track...by FAR! Even though I only drove for about 30 minutes (Thanks Mr. Schuster!), it was one amazing day and such a truly outstanding and challenging road course. The great thing is they have welcomed our club back and really supported us through the whole process of acquiring it and getting the millions of details settled prior to the event.

Many people were involved and all were excellent and they made a truly and I mean TRULY memorable experience for me...and I was absolutely elated to see so many of these -----> all day and into the night. That was awesome...

I still can't believe it happened...!!!
