Did the windows go down? I'm not sure about this, but, if not, then I suspect it's not the motor to your top... Rather, it's probably the switch that the other folks've been talking about.

Oh, it could also be the toggle switch itself for lowering the top... If you push it towards up, do you hear anything??

I've never replaced the console, however, I looked at the directions and the pictures for the switch that you were talking about and didn't see it.

This happened to me.
It was LoJack (spelling?) that hit the switch that tells the car the hand break is up when they were installing the equipment. (Yes, they moved the LoJack equipment, and I have know idea where they put it.)
You can tell because the dash "emergency break" light will not come on.
Good Luck

Well... My life is rather quiet right now. Here's what I did this weekend:

Friday: Acted like I was working until my Superior left early, then I left early
Girlfriend came over and we watched tv
Went the movies
Came home and went to sleep
Saturday: Washed my car with my girlfriend
Went to walmat with my girlfriend
Went to get pizza with my girlfriend
Went skating with my girlfriend
Went to the movies again with my girlfriend: Tears of the Sun A+
Came home and went to sleep

Sunday: Took shower
Found the solution to my problem.

So I guess I do live a charmed life. I am truly blessed.
