I'm confused.

sehnekel, why not tell him the truth. I, being in the know, know that you were being sarcastic, but that guy may go around perpetuating ignorance now. I think it was wrong to quote the figure of the car $25,000 too high, no matter what your intentions. your car is a hellava bargain. be proud of it's low cost. even if it looks more expensive. [off soapbox ]

as for the others:

I mean this in the NICEST possible way:

quit moaning and gripping!!!

if you want people to start knowing what your car is do one of two things:

1). Leave the H badges on so that people will recognize the emblem.

2). give the car time to be produced in enough numbers so that it can merge with the automotive lexicon.

Man, 13 years is a long time. Everytime I read a thread like this, it reminds me of the first few years of the Miata's release.

I just think it's funny. Many of you want exclusivity, yet at the same time you want universal recognition.

torque = a number = in this case, 153

that is TORQUE-LESS!!! (either as "just a number", by itself, or compared to the cars that the S2000 is usually compared to!)

is it a fast car? YES!

Today completes my first two weeks as a S2K owner/driver. I haven't had anyone say anything to me (that I could hear) while I've been out driving.

I was behind a Mercedes a few days ago. The young lady driving leaned over and said something to the guy riding with her. For the next half mile, he did a fine impersonation of an owl as he rubber-necked out the rear window. In deference to the health and well being of his neck, I finally accelerated past them so that he could get a better view.

I was going through a Tim Hortons drive thru, getting a coffee on the way to the accountant (Canadian tax time) and I'm sitting there waiting for the coffee, and I hear from the window

WOW thats a short knob you have.

I sit there for a second thinking...am I hanging out somewhere and its cold?

I look up and the girl is pointing at the voodoo knob...

I was very relieved...I can't take that kinda trauma before taxes.

It weeds out the pretenders when they don't know what kind of car it is. When you run into someone that knows it on sight you know they can truly appreciate it.

Many years ago, I saw a guy get out of a Ferrari Boxer. I said nice car, and he said thanks but kept on walking. When I asked him if it was a 512, he stopped and talked to me because he could tell I was an enthusiast.

It seems like he was friendly enough. He also appeared to appreciate our cars. I don't see why we need to label the guy as a "redneck".
