IMHO, the well mat is definitely worth it to help avoid scratching on the inside (some people have homemade versions)... my plastic window seems to have taken the most abuse on the inside. I have a Muz well mat and am happy with it.

The window tube protector is probably helpful to mitigate creases... (it's even recommended in one of Honda's technical notes) though I don't have one and fear the hassle of having to retrieve it every time you put the top back up. Again, some people have made their own tubes, too.

You can always just use a towel.

It's less convenient to put a tube or a towel in from the back, but the difference is 10 seconds versus a minute. I've had one rear window replaced, so I take the extra time every single time I raise or lower my top.

Lostsol,

I use both the mat and the tube. I also take great care when cleaning the rear window by using products such as Nexus Plastic Cleaner-Polish and Scratch Remover. It may take a little bit more effort, but my rear window still looks great.

My S2K is a 2001 model. JimmyB do you use Nexus or are you trying to say Plexus? Although I recently purchased Plexus and used it, it didn't totally clear up the cloudiness. It did help a little. Does Meguirs polish and cleaner work better than Plexus for getting rid of the cloudiness?

Most of the cloudiness is on the inside and much harder to get to. It takes quite a bit of elbow grease to clear it up, but once you have done it it is not hard to maintain. I have the Meguires, but have not tried it yet.

Here is a tip! Took very little effort just some sewing class! Originally done by another S2000 ower. Lost that one so I made a new one.

Parts: Foam 1-2" high 12" wide and 36" long(or wide as the rear window) Then get a nice soft black material that is like a pillow cover. You get it big enough to wrap the whole Foam up and sew it all in. VOWALA!!!

You now have a big window protector that not only keeps the window from creasing badly but also protects it from itself!

The MUZ mat is a must! When done with the Foam noodle toss it into the roof well.(fits perfect)

Have the Muz Roof Well Mat as well as window tube. I'd definitely give the mat a 10, it's a little difficult to first get it situated properly, requiring some strange contortions to get the Velcro tabs stuck in the right places, but once it's in, it works great and makes the roof well more attractive in the process.

I use my window tube religiously, but I must admit it's something of a PIA to have to lower the roof part way, jump out, put the tube in place, reach in to the car, lower the roof a little more, make sure the tube is properly located, reach in the car and finally put the roof all the way down. I'm sure it's comical to anyone who sees me do it, but such is the price we pay for that crappy plastic window. So I guess a "10" on the window tube itself, but a "2" on using it.
