thanks guys...all your replies will help me make my decision.....

i live in willow grove...i don't think it's too hilly....its not like manyunk......

thanks also for the list of other cars.....

i'm not really a wrx or evo type of guy.......if anything i'd get a b5 S4.....and the only reason i'm questioning getting one is due to their reliability...

i'm just looking for something fun to drive....i mean i'm 24, have no kids....and just got done school and found a job.....

keep the replies coming though

i was in your situation just a month ago when i was looking for a fun car. i'm 23, just graduated and have a decent job, and was looking for something that would make me smile while driving.

i was a bit worried about having an S as a daily driver. practicality of a 2 seater was my main concern, also the snow problem. i live just north of dc, so snow is not a HUGE issue, but it does exist since the area gets a few good snows every winter. i'm in the first month of ownership and haven't yet decided if i'm going to get snow tires or just take the metro into work when the weather gets dicey, but i think either choice will work fine. it's not like there's snow on the ground for 3 solid months. i still drive the car in the rain. i dont like getting the waterspots all over it but that's what car washes are for, right?

test driving quelled the impracticality issues for me. 2 seater at my age is no problem; i'm not hauling anything big around, can still take a friend/significant other w/ me, but can also use it as an excuse not to drive when i'm going out w/ a group. i figure whenever i get married there will more than likely be another car coming into the marriage, so hauling bigger loads will work out.

insurance: i'm with USAA since i'm in the military and my insurance doubled from the old coverage on my cherokee, but it's definately doable. get quotes from lots of companies, play around w/ coverage options and deductables. you wont find anyone here saying that insurance isn't a problem, but to me it's worth it to have such a great car.

hope this helps. speaking as a new owner, i'm glad i got it. might be a bit less enthusiastic after a few snows and commutes on the subway, but those frustrations will melt away come spring.... i find these days that i judge the weather simply as "top down" or "top up"

I drive S as daily driving car. I live in CA so never see snow but on rainy day it does feel little unstable
and I have slipped several times but if you carefully drive, it should be ok. Also, it makes your trip
very fun. Fun on the way to work, Fun on the way back to home. I dont wanna drive any other car
except my S. It is very stressful whenever I have to drive other car. (But no one around me understand .)

I would not want to have it as my only car. It is far too small and uncomfortable. Not to metntion my paranoya with parking. On my truck I can just drive through the mud, get in dirty, doesn't matter. Good side for me is that all of my vehicles will only fit 2 (comfortably) so that cuts me out of having to drive also.

...It also clearly states in your manual ...don't do it, 'bro.

As of the question, I used to drive my old one as a daily drive, LM22 in the winter. I even went to an empty parking lot to check out the limit of the tires when I first got 'em, I had to push and try to make the car slide 'cause the darn thing hold up so well even in 3-4 inces of snow! Now..rock chips on the front end is another story...

Driving S in snow( with snow tires, of cause) was really fun, save and it's truely capable, but now that I have a civic as a daily drive I couldn't be happier.
