Default wow! damn whiplash

ok....i started my car yesterday when i left work...about a minute later, i rounded a turn and floored it...the engine only had one bar of temp to it....right at 32 mph (not sure of the tach) the car felt like it got hit or like someone pulled the handbrake up on me in the middle of my full throttle acceleration...it scared the sh*t out of me and hurt my neck....anyways, not sure if this was some type of temperature control feature of the engine (my si would not let vtec engage until the engine was warm)....has this happened to anyone else???

I believe there's a cut-out at 6K when the temp is less than 3 bars. It's happened to me several times - usually when I'm trying to overtake a lumbering SUV, early in the morning.

Makes you feel kind of stupid when you suddenly loose all power just as you've got the edge on the other guy! Remember to let it get to 3 bars before you floor it!

For the love 'a Pete folks, you have to let an engine warm up, before you jump on it!

That's what i'm saying. Why would you try to romp on your engine without it being fully warmed up? Talk about abuse.

how about this analogy: ever try to VTEC a woman that wasn't warmed up?

just something to remind yourself when you hit that wall without three bars on the temp meter.
