Default XM antenna in middle of trunk! YUCK!!!

Just got in our accessories CD's and saw this. There has to be a better place for it.

I can think of a good place for it...

I hate car stereos anyway, and this is another reason - 500000 channels of bad music. I prefer the mechanical stirrings of a finely tuned machine at redline!

My other job as a high end audio journalist brings me some awesome stereo gear, so I cannot tolerate the crud you get in cars anymore.

That thing looks awful, like a giant zit!

blues2000boy had that silly thing on the top of his trunk, he bought a magnet one and magnetized that b*tch to the INSIDE of the trunk- i think he's reception stayed the same... i rather get no reception, than have a tumor on the trunk of my car- even if my car was a geo storm!

A number of folks have posted that they've installed the [non-magnetic] antenna in the base of their secret compartment . Quite stealthy.

Interesting that the xm antenna is so large while my GPS antenna fits just fine between the air vents by the windshield.

I think that trunk antenna would look better color matched.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's stupid, actually it's rather inventive and informative in the fact that you don't necessarily need line of sight to get reception with an XM antenna.

You do have a point though, it does use up space in the compartment, although not a whole lot. Perhaps you could devise a better stealth area for mounting it. The first thought that came to my mind was cutting it into the underside of the secret compartment lid.
