XM antenna in middle of trunk! YUCK!!!

Don't ya think that gluing your radar detector to the trunk like that kinda reduces it's functionality?

Well it only fills 1/2 of the front small compartment. I only put pens and misc crap in there. It's very small. As for getting the SAME reception XM receiption I think that is questionable.

Yes I know you do get reception but definitly at a sacrafice to one being mounted with no metal in the way at all. Even in the upper box area when the top is up some bars are in the way but shouldn't pose much of an issue.

Just completed the XM tuner install and located the Terk M3 antenna on the front of the dash between the air vents next to the windshield. This antenna is slightly smaller than the pictures I've seen posted here installed in the secret compartment. The antenna has a magnetic base but I used 2 layers of double stick foam tape for the install since that area appears to not be completly flat. No reception problem at this location.

Doesn't trunk mounting act as a shield and greatly diminush sensitivity? I am an EE, and while I have not studied the XM system, I know that RF would be greatly affected by a inside metal mounting.

well the new ant i was told has a much stronger signle receiver. thats what the guy at best buy said. anyways i have no problems. it even works in my garage. and it can be removed and remounted anywhere because of the mag.
