We have just become an official dealer for the Yellow Box and we expect to have the it available at a special price of $90 tomorrow ($10 off the direct price from the manufacturer). 20 of these neat little devices will be in our hands be the middle of next week for immediate shipment. In the meantime, here are the particulars and some photos.

The speedometers and odometer on the S2000, and nearly all other modern cars, are calibrated from the factory with a plus 1-2 percent error. This means that actual speed or recorded mileage is actually lower than that indicated on the speedometer and odometer.

This 1-2 percent error can be magnified even further when you install aftermarket wheels and tires or change the rear gear set. For example, the 4.44 rear gear set for the S2000, introduces another plus 7-8 percent error. This error can result in speeding tickets and other moving violations, put your car out of warranty prematurely, mislead you into premature maintenance expense, and other problems.

The Yellow Box corrects speedometer and odometer error to within 1/10 of a mile or MPH. The Yellow Box is installed in the vehicle and corrects the speedo signal in real-time. It can be re-adjusted at any time to correct for changes in gearing and wheel sizes. Installation and calibration are easy, within the skill of most back-yard mechanics. If installed properly, the Yellow Box will not induce tampering messages from the vehicle's ECU.

The Yellow Box features include:

World's smallest and most high-tech speedo recalibrator!
Tiny size, only 1 x 2 inches, weighs only 1.5 ounces!
Inbuilt microprocessor accuracy
Instant response, no speedo lag
Fine 0.25% adjustment from -28% to +28% correction
Also has KPH-MPH conversion mode for imported vehicles
(KPH mode has additional -10% to +18% adjustment)
System testing on power-up
Flashing light shows switch settings and test modes
Input and output tests
Rugged solid epoxy construction
Legendary reliability and 10 year replacement warranty!

The Yellow Box is built for reliability -- it is not a cheap disposable mass produced product. To ensure a long life, it is manufactured with:

High quality plated through hole PCB
Hand inspection and testing at key stages
Epoxy encapsulated for shock proofing
No corrosive electrolyte capacitors used
All parts over-rated by a large margin
Rugged spike filtering of power and inputs
Gold plated switch contacts
Double tensioned connectors

The Yellow Box is covered by a 10-year guarantee and can be used in many different cars, so it will never be obsolete.

Calibrating the Yellow Box to correct speedo/odo error is done by the means of the DIP swithces on the device, as indicated below.

Wiring is pretty simple. You make three connections to the +12, ground, and sensor leads on the speed sensor, either near the sensor itself, or under the dash in the area where the sensor leads connect to the ECU. Here's a diagram of the basic setup (this is not a wiring diagram):

How hard is it to install?

Do you have a harness or something like that for a pnp installation?

Definately want one!

No, to correct the speedo. When you change the rear gears, it makes the speedo off by 10%. This corrects that.

Looks like someone could use it to lower their odometer mileage though, which is what I believe paivag was talking about.

That certainly would be possible, but we frown on such uses

It is easy to install, slick rick. It comes with a plug-in wire harness. I tapped mine to the leads off the sensor on the transmission and put the Yellow Box itself in my cupholder.

Here is the pic of the speed sensor wire harness on the side of the tranny. You splice into the blue/white wire. You can also tap into this wire at the ECU but it will NOT work on Canadian cars as this is a shared circuit with the DRL's, believe it or not.
