Default yellow s2k with blown engine

Yesterday when I was at the Honda dealer, they said that they had a s2k in the back with a blown engine. I questioned it. Supposedly, Thrifty Rental Co. has one to rent and some person was on the interstate going 95 mph in 5th gear. They went to down shift into 4th and hit 2nd instead and blew it up. I did not get to see it, but he said that parts alone for the mishap were over $7000.00.

I will definately watch my shifting now.

Man - since I got my Voodoo knob, the throws are a lot shorter now - so there is actually danger that I might go 5-2. I caught myself doing this a few days ago but luckily the clutch was still fully depressed. Guess I will just have to be more mindful now, hopefully I will get used to the closer gates in a few weeks.

Moneeb,

Do you shift while holding your hand to the side of the knob? Or do you hold it over the top? I had trouble when I first got my car because I held the knob side-saddle and there is no room for error in the S2000.

Since I got the voodoo knob and started holding my hand over the top of the knob, I have not mis-shifted. We had a thread about this a few months ago and several other people reported the same thing.

that's just poor driving.. that sounds like "someone who drives" as opposed to a "driver"..

OR

I guess that could happen if you are on the phone, eating a slice of pizza and trying to pick up that cd cover that fell in front of the passenger seat.. :-)

Actually Tariq, I think you are right - initially I "side-held" the knob as I was used to doing with the original and I think this was leading me into problems. But I agree with you that holding the knob from the top lends more control and should hopefully keep me out of trouble
