that sucks.... two wrongs don't make it right, but it sure as hell makes it even!
That sounds like the same attitude the Hatfield's and McCoy's had. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth only leaves the whole world blind and toothless.

Not everyone can afford a 30k 2 seater Honda and even fewer can afford a 996 tt. - at least in Canada (S2K are 50k here). While the S2K isn't in the league of your tt Porsche it is still a nicer car than all the Accords, minivans, and SUVs that inhabit the suburbs of Toronto, and being a convertible/2 seater/sports car it draws attention (quite uncommon here).

um i agree with Chicos... I mean i live in southern CA, furthermore i live in the OC, where you see carerras, escalades, or sl55's almost everywhere you go and ppl are still jealous of my s. luckily i havent had anyone vandalize my car yet, but ill walk up and see ppl standing over it, looking in side, touching the side panels. its disturbing. and its usually guys. when they see a chick walking up to the usually smile at me a walk away looking over their sholder. once agian, disturbing.

just be safe, i always try to park in the farthest parking space or next to other really nice sports cars....

and what does my license plate have to do w/anything.
Because, if I saw that license plate I would think... this is a kid and he really loves his car.

They aren't called VANITY plates for nothing.

Imagine a jealous hater walks by... sees your VANITY plate... he thinks, I can really piss this person off because they really love their car.... and I'm pissed because I drive a POS.... and voila, cut softtop and f'ud up paint.

It's not that the car's nicety that evokes the jealousy.

It's the flash and competition that males feel about their cars... especially when young males get together. The VANITY plate is kind of a "hey look at me, I'm showing off in my cool car" thing... couple that with a little jealousy and the competitive spirit....

I doubt the "vandals" would have done that to the car if they had seen a middle age driver pull up in it.

(P.S. I know that kids aren't the only ones with vanity plates)

I drive my S for the driving pleasure.

If the drive isn't going to pleasurable because I'll be worrying about vandalism, because it's stop and go traffic, because it's snowing out, because it's single lane with no passing and strictly enforced speed limits....

Why would I drive the S?

Honestly, I have more fun in the beater during those times because it's less stressful for me and I enjoy not worrying about crap like destroying or having my favorite car destroyed.

That's why I love my beater!

Haha, sure they are -- in your head.

Vandalism like this is a fairly simple principle, drive like an asshole, park like an asshole -- expect to be treated like an asshole.

I park my S2000 on the street, at the airpot -- hell my BMW, Land Rover and Porsche on the street, in parking lots and at the airport and guess what, zero problems. I don't drive nor do I park like an asshole.

The author of this thread (who also started a thread where someone threw a bottle at him for no reason at all -- yeah right) more than likely has been an asshole in the above situations and suffered for it. So be it.

I don't know if that's normal or not but I've been insanely pissed and anti-social since that incident.
Not too abnormal I suspect.

I remember when I bought my first new car, and after a couple months it was stolen. I was really upset and depressed.

I spent my time cruising around in my previous (old beat up) car, and eventually found the stolen car. It was kind of sad ... window bashed in, leather seat all cut up from the broken glass under where they had put a magazine on the seat to drive it off, etc.

Then I noticed some dried blood on the center console. They must have cut themselves breaking the window. Call me a bad person, but it made me feel better!

i wasnt saying those people who drive carerras ect. are jealous of me, or my car. i meant in a sea of really nice expensive cars, mine wouldnt be noticed but it still is. you need to stop being so pompous. as well as realize not everyone owns several really nice cars.
