Yet Another "How Much Should I Pay" Post
I am about to purchase a S2000 this weekend and have several options to go with. I was quoted a price for a 04 S2000 with 6800K miles on it for 27K even. To me this sounds like a hell of a deal but what do I know. The Carfax history is clean and the car is in flawless condition. Does anyone think this is a good deal for that year vehicle with those miles on it?
I am also looking at a 2003 S with 15K miles on it (Certified Car). This car has a sticker price of $26,499 which seems to be kind of high for a car with that many miles on it. This car is also in perfect conditon. What do you think I should offer this dealer as a bottom line price I am willing to pay?
Finaly, I found another perfect conditon 2001 S with 11K miles on it which is a Certified vehicle for an asking price of $23,989. What would be a good price to pay for this one?
Thanks for any info you can provide

Oh man... if you wanted a response, you should've just asked: "Which is better, '04, '03, or '01?"
Where are you located? That will have somewhat of a bearing on price. If the '03 is "certified" I'm guessing it's at a dealership? Their prices will obviously be higher than a private party.
If I were you, I'd first decide if you want the 2.2l/revised suspension/newer wheels, or if you want the 9000rpm/2.0l/"more original" one. Once you decide that it should narrow down your choices by at least a tiny bit. By all means use the other two as leverage when negotiating the one you decide on.
^^this is a decision I'm currently working on myself.

I would like to have the 04 over the other two but the dealer pissed me off today by bailing out of my appointment with them tonight. The guy was completely ready to sell the car via email last night and then today at the last minute he said the car would be unavailable until Tues because they haven't gone over it yet (Inspected it). Supposedly the car was just traded in the other day. In most cases I would have given him the benefit of the doubt and would have been cool with it but previously he said that two other folks were coming in Sat morning to look at the car. I believe that he is holding out for a better deal from someone else before dropping down to the 27K he agreed to with me.
The 03 would be my second choice but the price seems kind of high. The car is on the showroom floor at this point.
The 01 is being sold at my uncles Honda dealership but I would rather have a newer one. Most likely I could probably get a pretty good deal on this one even though it is older then I would like.
I am located in PA near Philly

If the dealer of the '04 is holding out for a better deal, there's not much you can do... except offer him more money. If you've absolutely decided on that car, just head over with money in hand and see if he'll cave. Most salesmen would rather have the sale done with sooner rather than wait on someone else.
Also, don't let your experience with specific dealers sour your impression of a place... if that was the case, nobody would buy BMW's
I don't know how much of a hurry you're in, but if you can be patient it would help your cause- there was an '04 S2000 for sale right by my house. Everyday I got to drive past it and eventually the price dropped. If you know a car has been on a lot for a while, there's a good chance they'll take any reasonable offer.

01 w/11k- $21,815
03 w/15k- $26,560
04 w/6800- $29,225
Now, the price for the 04 seems a bit high as I've heard hardtopguy selling brand new ones for around $30k. As for me, I'd choose the 01. It has crazy low miles and its certified (although you didn't mention whether this was at a Honda dealer or not. not that it matters that much, just that they may be more experienced with the S's little nuances.) You'd have a lower payment, and more money left over for mods, if that's your thing. In my opinion, the 01 is more raw, more real in some ways. The suspension is a little better in my opinion (because of different sway bars in later years). It seems to suit my driving style a little more.
Just drive as many as you can, take price into consideration (if that matters to you), and buy the best car you can get for your money. At the end of the day, you'll still have an S 2000, and you can't really go wrong with that. The memory of "Gosh, I may have overpaid a couple of grand" will fade pretty quickly when you realize how great of a car you get to drive every day.

If you search hard enough, you may be able to get brand new '05 for about $30K +/- $500. If I was you, I would not buy one year old car with almost 7K miles for only $3K less. You can do better than this, but do not show any dealer how much you love the car. You will get raped by any dealer for showing your hands.
I appreciate the feedback. The dealer with the 04 left a bad taste in my mouth after backing out of a potential sale so I won't be buying from them. The bad news is that the 01 S2000 on my uncles lots that had 11K miles on it was just sold. He just told me that they just got in another 01 with 45K miles on it that I could get a real good deal on but I am a little concerned with buying an S with that many miles on it. This leaves me with the 03 that is listing for 26.5K. What would be a good price to walk away with for this car that has 15K miles on it?

8400 miles on a perfect Berlina. 1st $27k is going to take it.
That's my "haggle-free" price. And, of course, it's under warranty.
Details & Photos below.
Well, I am now a new owner of a 2003 S2000. I just picked it up today and love it so far. It's got 15K miles on it and is Honda Certified. I ended up financing $24K even which isn't too much of a rape job but I'm sure if I had the patience I may have found one a little cheaper. This car is a real attention getter for sure; especially being bright red. I noticed several people today on different occsasions putting down their windows to stare at it like a specimen. Hopefully the thieves won't take as much time to notice it as these folks did...
The cars handling is even better then I first anticipated and the headlights are as cool as can be. Looks like I will now have to change my screen name to something more appropriate.
So far I give this vehicle
for driver satisfaction and a very nasty sounding engine at the far right side of the Tach....
