You gotta get one of these!
Okay, so I paid $20 more than some other people. Guys, I paid FULL MSRP for my car as many of you have (and most more than MSRP) so I guess I have no room to be upset over $20. However, thanks for the info, I want another one for my office at work. So, I'll save some money next time. I like this model. It's not the best, I'm sure, but it looks just like the real one sitting outside.
I have like 3 Maistos (I think) among my collection of model S2000's. The Maisto is decent, but the AutoArt is far more detailed and accurate. The Maisto was adapted from the LHD version of the car, which explains why the battery and other things are all on the wrong side.
The valve cover is longer than the real one and there are other details that aren't quite right...but still looks good, no doubt.
Having an AutoArt and Maisto side by side, you would see how the details are different...
Good fun, though...

The battery placement on the Maisto model would be correct if the model were a right-hand-drive model. The thing is, the right hand model's steering, aircon cluster, start button and radio controls was merely swapped from right to left. Thus, we have a LHD model with the start button on the right and air-con controls on the left.
The thing that is odd to me about the Maistos is that they go through all the trouble to mimick the Honda logo on the front and rear of the car - the JDM model uses the body colored solid badges whereas the US models uses a painted H logo (as if to mimick the cheap logos on our actual cars). Take a close look, the JDM Maistos are different from the US versions.
I actually have about a dozen of these 18th scale Maisto S2000's in various combinations of interior and exterior colors and wheel options that do not come from the factory that way!
The Autoarts are by far more detailed though there are a couple of things where the Maistos are "more accurate" in.

I got a Maisto as a gift and also noticed that things were wrong with it. I didn't know that it was because it was based on the RHD version of the car.
You learn something new everyday on this board.

I cuple weeks ago, someone posted about a 1/18 model by a company which i can't remember. It is supposedly even more detailed than the AutoArt model. I think i recall it being about $100, and even having carpet. Does anyone recall the name of the manufacturer??? So i can do a search??
Thanks
