Okay. This really happened to me yesterday, but you have to realize that my S2000's battery has become "iffy." If I'm not driving it for a few days or a week, I put it on a slow charge.

Yesterday was a perfect S2000 day for me. I was "off-call." Wyoming was blessed with azure blue skies and almost warm weather. But when I went out to fire up the S2000, I turned the key and the dash lights came on, but the engine didn't turn over.

Dutifully I attached the battery charger. I cursed myself for not having put it on in the last week or two. I really wanted to go for a drive.

Then I remembered the "start button."

Oh my gosh how can a guy so gray be so blonde?

It's ok Barry, I did something similar last week. I went to put the top down unlatched the 2 latches, pulled back the lever nothing. I started wondering if the motor was shot and when I would have the time to bring it in to the dealer. Then I remembered that the parking brake had to be up.

Don't worry, I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I was installing something, don't remember what. Got it all done and went to turn the car on to test it. Turned the key...nothing. Turned again...nothing. Started worrying. It took me until about the third try to remember LITTLE RED BUTTON!!!

Of course if you are driving the S2000 too much you begin looking for the start engine button in your daily driver.. I've also caught myself trying to depress the nonexistent clutch in when starting my automatic celica.

!! Hey Barry, don't worry - I've got you beat on this one. That same thing happened to me recently; I kept trying to turn the key until I turned blue in the face...you may not have driven your S in awhile, but mine's a DAILY DRIVER... Swear to god, I laughed so hard when I realized my forgetfulness about the Start button.

One time I was SO OUT OF IT, I kept on pressing the Engine Start button thinking that I was putting my car in reverse. Of course it made that loud sound that it makes when you try turning on the car when it's already on, but I still didn't get it then. When it was making that sound, I was thinking damnit why am I grinding gears. I didn't realize what the hell I was doing until like after 3 tries. I guess I had A LOT on my mind at that moment.

I always try to adjust the volume on my beater, but there's no "handy" switch on my geo.
