You might have the Spring Spacers if...
YEp - same on mine too - 14 of the little suckers hiding in the wheel wells, although we certainly didn't need to take the wheels off to get them out, just jack up the car to release tension on the springs and then pull them out by hand, 5 mins work.

Sorry to revive such an old thread but I just took delivery of my new 2002 S2K and had some concerns about the spring spacers.
Just checked the car, and it failed the finger test. I was able to fit four 4 fingers in the rear well and 3+ in the front. At that point I figured I would find some spacers in the springs. So I contorted myself at all four corners but couldn't find any spacers. I used my hands to feel around the springs, and I also used a dentist's mirror to check the backside of the springs that I couldn't see. I didn't find any spacers, but ofcourse my paranoia makes me wonder if I missed one since I didn't jack up the car and do a thorough search. Here are my questions:
1. Do all spacers run the length of the spring?
2. If I can run my hands/fingers around the center of each spring and not feel any spacers, is that a guarantee that there are no spacers?
3. Should I expect the gap in the wells to drop by another finger's width over the next couple weeks? (I took delivery 1 week ago, and the car currently has 300 miles on the ticker).
Thanks in advance for your help, you guys are an invaluable source of information!

Albert ......... 1.) Not everyone has the sized fingers or hands. Just a rule of thumb.
2.) There were supposed to be some suspension changes to the 02s to make them
better behaved. Don't know if this effected the ride height of the car.
You did the RIGHT thing by checking !
It's better to be safe then sorry.

Thanks StwoK. I figured maybe that was the case, but I guess what concerned me was that the front was almost double the two finger range (and damn, my fingers are that skinny!)
I think for the most part I can safely assume that there aren't any spacers though, since I was able to run my fingers around the circumference of each spring without running into a spacer.
But then again, am I safe to assume that the spacers are all the same size, and that they all run the length of the spring?

There's a pic of the spacers in the FAQs on this site, you can look at them. As for making sure they're gone, you can use a mirror and flash light to visually look at the springs. You can also feel them (ror the fronts, turn the wheels and then you can easily feel the springs) with your hands (specailly towards the back, where you cannot otherwise see). Make sure the car's parked on a levelled surface.
