Default Is your car Jerky in first gear?

Sometimes when I am driving in first my car gets a little jerky. Ill have to quickly throw it into 2nd to get it to stop. I have an '02 with 34k miles on it. Just bought it from the dealer (certified) this march. Just wondering if this is normal or something I should be concerned about. It doesnt happen all the time just once in a while. THanks.

Mine only does this in 2nd gear when the car hasn't fully warmed up yet. I'll wait a good minute after starting before driving. I shift into 2nd (low RPM) and every now and then it's the hurky jerky (but not real bad or anything)

Blue_S2: At what speed do you observe this jerkiness in 1st gear? I think it's normal between 0-8 mph for the car to be a little jerky as you make slight changes to the throttle input. I seem to remember someone calling it "driveline backlash" or something like that.

Heat soak can cause this problem too. If you have a CAI that often fixes the problem.

Yep sandard on them all over the world, so called "The kangaroo effect" usually the best thing to do when it happens is pop the clutch back in and give it a blip of the revs, usually sorts it, normally happens if after sitting at traffic lights for a short time etc. I think its something to do with theair getting draewn in whilst sitting still, now every time I sit at a junction etc. I give it a light rev before taking off to avoid the embarrasment of everybody thinking you cant drive your up your arse

Blue S2 Like your name.

We were thinking of it for a vanity plate. Here in MA, they would not allow a space, so it would read Blues2. Kind of takes something away from the meaning.
