Default Is your S NOT garaged

Does anyone not have a garage to protect their S 2000? What other creative methods do you use to protect your baby. I live in a relatively safe neighborhood.

I am seriously considering purchasing; however I am concerned regarding the following issues:

1) Soft top leaks.

2) protection against theft

3) paint damage

4) sap and pollen on soft top (difficulty in cleaning) ??

Any comments you may have will be helpful in finalizing my decision.

I don't have a garage, and I pay the price in some ways, but I'm an excellent detailist and live in a good neighborhood, so it matters not. I also leased the car, so in '05 I'll get a new one anyway....I didn't want to purchase one yet, just to make sure that if a Type-R actually makes an appearance I can safely get one without worrying about my car dropping to the floor in value and taking a massive hit.

I've had my car for about 20 months or so and have to park outside (my garage has been converted to living space)

1) Haven't had any leak probs.
2) I live in a relatively safe hood so I don't worry too much about theft.
3) Dunno about paint damage--I try to keep my car well zainoed.
4) I park in a driveway so I don't worry about sap. Haven't had too much probs cleaning off tree pollen.

Hope that helps!

My porsches live in the garage the S stays outside. It is non the worse for wear, its a honda man. The only problem that I would see is if you live under a huge sapy tree or bird migration lines. If you live in a nice neighborhood there should be a lot better cars to steal then the S. Plus there is next to no stolen parts demand for the car excluding the seats and the front light's.

Trust me buy the car you know you want it. Guess what gets driven the most at my house.

Car cover, baby!! I call it my portable garage. Good thing is that my ride is "garaged" at work as well. I never even put the top up under the cover unless the rain will be hard . . .

I've got a covered parking space at my apartment, but no garage.

1) Only soft top leak I've had was when using a carwash.
2) S2000's have been stolen out of garages.
3) Nothing compared to road debris.
4) Not an issue for me.

Thank you to all your responses they have been most helpful.

One last question:

What about snow. We do not get a lot of it up here (contrary to popular belief), however will the weight of snow on the soft top do any damage?

Get the best car cover you can. I use the Weathershield, manufactured by Covercrafters and sold through a variety of outfitters. It's exceptionally light, machine washable, and throws off rain better than any other cover I've seen.
Only problem: it can blow off in high winds. Secure it with a cable lock and you should be okay.
Oh, and buy the car!

hahaa... tuff? it's near impossible.. and i'm sure about everyone that owns one will agree that it's not recommended to the extent that another S owner may whip your @$$ for driving it in snow..
