Well, as much as I hate to admit it, at least BMW gave the Z4 a built in soft top cover. I don't know about the rest of you, but damn, I hate carrying the soft top cover in the trunk all the time and not being able to raise my top (since I use the cover most of the time) when it actually sprinkles here in So. Cal. while I'm stuck in the wonderful L.A. traffic!

Well let's see... the Z3 can't match the performance of the S. the M roadster can't either (around curves)... but the Z4 is bigger, heavier, with the same power as the Z3.. go figure

I can't figure out what BMW was aiming for with the Z4...
Some changes seem really tuned towards the serious performance driver, like a revised suspension that looks to be a real winner and very high chassis stiffness, but mostly they seemed to target it as a blvd cruiser.
Lots of luxury options, few performance options. No upgraded engines? Run flat tires? An emasculated version of SMG? About 200# of extra pork?
And all of that is only relevant assuming you actually like the way it looks!

The Z4 is far Superior but then comes the S2000 which is even more superior then the Z4 as mentioned in fg23knight's statement.
