Arrow Ztec heatshield

i was just wondering--the Ztec heatshield bolts to the front of the engine, blocking heat radiated from the engine from getting to the intake box. it is supposed to reduce intake temps by about 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

BUT, although the intake air is cooled down, wouldn't the heat that is blocked by the heatshield be radiated back to the engine, further heating the engine, and end up heating the air once it is inside the engine back to the same temp it would normally be at anyway??

just wondering

What year?? My 00 ZX3 had that shield but It was there so the converter wouldnt heat up the radiator. The air box is in the side of the engine bay not the front where the shield is.

why yes, i have. but i won't have one until maybe a month or so from now. and not everyone will have a vented hood...you have to consider the original question not assuming that i'd have another mod like a vented hood. but yea it makes sense.. can't wait to get my seibon MG!

The engine cooling system takes care of any extra heat thats radiated back to the engine.
