Default ZTEC heatshield not fitting my AP1

i'm trying to install the ZTEC heatshield i just bought but there's a little extra wire harness type thing that's bolted to the VTEC solenoid, and it's in the way of where the heatshield should be. is the ZTEC heatshield supposed to fit AP1s??

thanks!

yea i had the same thing. unclip the wire harness and loosen that bolt. if you try to turn it theres a little tab in the way right? take the bolt out and take that wire harness clipout and bend that tab up with a pair of pliers. put it back on turn it to the side so your heat sheild now fits. WATCH THOSE RIVETS. i popped my hood one day and the heat sheild was hanging on by one rivet. i drilled mine out and used stainless bolts.

Yes, it should fit. There is nothing differant between the AP1 and AP2 in the area where the heatshiled fits. The head is the same part number, the solenoid is the same.

in the upper right and lower left, there is nothing there--just a hole. in the upper left and lower right, it is filled with something like a metallic ball. is this normal?

there are supposed to be rivets there nightcrawler. what happened to mine was they vibrated out so i drilled out the bracket and used stainless steel bolts and nuts with teflon lock washers. b sure to use a good high temp anti seize with the teflon lock washers. you got pm by the way man.

problem fixed. someone who had the car before me took that bracket off of the solenoid and bolted back in the wrong position.

makes me wonder if the previous owner(s) were boosting...wouldn't that be the only reason for their removal of the solenoid?

thanks duanet85 and Stratocaster!
