Default 08 f22c longblock in 01 ap1

As the title states I've just picked up an 08 long block with just over 50k miles on it. What needs to be swapped/removed from the f22c in order to run in my 01. Searched and couldn't find a specific thread on this subject. Also will an 04-05 ecu plug into my 01 harness?

The 04-05 ECU will plug in perfectly fine, but you will need to address the immobilizer:
Option A Reprogram an 04-05 ECU at a dealership to make it work with your ignition/key
Option B Buy an 04-05 ECU along with the immobilizer key ring, key and lock cylinders (trunk, glovebox, doors, ignition)

As far as the 08 long block, you will need to use your stuff from your 01 for:
intake manifold (and all attached accessories to support drive-by-cable setup. throttle body, cables, etc.)
Valve cover
Cam position sensor
Cam trigger wheel + sensor
crankshaft trigger wheel + sensor

Basically everything on the valve cover, and everything behind the timing cover that has a sensor.

This link may be insightful, the OP is doing the opposite of you (00-05 engine into his 06+)

you need the AP1 version of the following parts:

^ what he said.

Also I think you might get air pump related CEL since the 06+ motor doesn't have the air pump passages in the block

If you do then just get the izze air pump delete kit

BTW your 01 ECU will work fine, but you'll need some self control to keep the revs under 8200rpm which is the stock ap2 rev limiter. Many people run up to 8400-8500 without issue - I wouldnt to farther than that though

Swap my f22c1 cable motor for your dbw so neither have to get into the motor? I'm not going to get into the motor I bought. If I have to get into internals I'll just rebuild my 07 motor. My plan was to get my car running quick not swap sensors, etc.
IM if interested. I was told the motor had around 50k but I haven't pulled carfax on the Vin to verify.

You can always get a 06+ ecu and harness.

Thanks for the help guys. I would keep the 01 ecu but a little afraid of over revving. Switching over sensors doesn't sound too bad.

I stuffed the F22C in, plugged in my 01 Ap1 stuff and turned the key, pretty much...

Where's the air pump passage in the block? I was under the impression all F20C and F22C share the same block and head castings.

06+ has a slightly different head AFAIK. I cant remember which side was blocked off on the 06+ but the air pump passage goes from the intake manifold side to the exhaust manifold ports

There's a couple of locals here running 00-05 motors in 06+ cars and they blocked off the passages on the exhaust side

Edit:see here, 06estukay and wadzii provided details on blocking it off https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/106...p2-bottom-end/

OP has an 08 long block, so if he got an 06+ ecu and harness he would be just fine, I'd imagine.
