Default 0w-40 engine oil...

tried the search but i only found threads about 0w-30 and i didnt find any info about the 0w-40 engine oil..

well, thanks in advance... and i just want to know if the 0w-40 oil is good to use for s2k (street,freeway,track,etc.)....i have been thinking of using it but i am not sure if this type of oil is any good for the s2k, and this 0w-40 engine oil is easier to find than 0w-30 (atleast on the autoparts that i go to), so i was hoping maybe somebody can fill me in on this one...

i am currently using 5w-30 for my street, freeway, track, canyon driven s2000 and i like it, but i wanna try something else and see if there will be better oil out there for my car...

thanks

I had my dealer put in Mobil 0w-40. They had no problems with that. So far - i'm liking the oil. No problems starting in the cold, no problems racing while it's hot. It's been in since May, and my engine used up less than a liter of it so far. And i do like VTEC and spent practically every weekend on the track in the summer months

Use any quality motor oil of the correct viscosity in your car, change it at appropriate intervals, and you will be fine. I stick with OEM recommended viscosities (10W-30 in sub-tropical Florida) and change the oil at 5k mile intervals unless there is a reason to change sooner (e.g. tracking the car, poor UOAs). Since you have an '06, you have the additional data from the oil minder. Perform Used Oil Analyses (e.g. Blackstone Labs) when you change the oil and then you'll know if it's good for the car.

0w40 is fine. Honda specs 5w40 for the car. 0w40 would just give a bit better cold start. I was thinking of changing until I read this thread.

I haven't heard of an AP2 using any oil at all for a couple of years now. Has yours always consumed oil? Or did it just start consuming since switching to M1 0W40?

dunno. Bought the car, brought it to the dealer for the service, got the oil put in and been happily driving ever since 6k miles and multiple trackdays later and i'm not even quarter dipstick down. I guess it's good I was expecting it to eat more... and i have AP1 btw

I have been using 10-30 amsoil you can go like 15k with out changing the oil i just change to 0-30 weight and this one goes all the way to 35k without changing, one of the best oils out on the market the only problem is no major store stocks it you have to order it but its worth it
