Default 17mpg! PLEASE HELP.

I drive a 2002 S2000 with 79k miles. My last 3 gas tanks gave been horrible. Averaging about 17 miles per tank. I rarely hit Vtec. I drive the same route everyday at the same time at the same speed. I remember I used to get about 100-120 miles at half tank. Now I get about 80-90 miles at half. Something is wrong, I know its not my gas gauge.

I will be taking my car in to SoCal Motorworks next weekend and have Andy take a look at it. As for now, what can i check for starters?
Spark plugs? Psi? I might be due for a valve adjustment?
*sidenote* I also burn a little oil, which i think is normal for an Ap1. Please help, as this is my daily driver.

Thanks you guys.

Will do! It's city, but at 5:30 am, so not much traffic, & mostly green lights

Most likely up stream O2 sensor. Like a 50 dollar sensor at auto zone if you go univeral. Pretty sure that would throw a CEL too if your engine lights on, but have heard of them going bad and no codes thrown too

Sound's like you just need to do a tune up. You don't have to replace your upstream o2 sensor, you can always just clean it. If the sensor stops working, it stops working, and it will throw a code.

Wow 120 miles for city.... That's really low. I get 145 a half a tank on city driving. I would suggest you do a tune up and check your tire pressure .

Any chance it could use a valve adjustment?
