I need some major help. I can get 180 miles until my refuel light turns on. I know SilverSurfer's car is SC'ed and it can get the same mileage as myself. My tires are inflated to spec, there is no leak (no fuel stench in my garage), and I don't V-TEC much. I brought it to Honda and I was told that my car was NOT running rich. What could be the problem? Reverand...anyone....I need help!!! Gas is too expensive in San Francisco and I might just sell my car (its my daily commuter) because of this bad mileage. Thank you.

I get around 200 to 220 miles between fill ups of 10.7 to 11.8 gallons, for 18.5 to 20.4 miles per gallon.

That's normal around town driving, with my daily 15 miles each way commute to and from work on the freeway, but with 5 miles per day of that stop-and-go. I hit VTEC pretty regularly getting on the freeway, but I've been trying to shift up to 5th and 6th more often once at cruising speed.

I wound up with around 10 MPG at my last track day, and a couple of 25 MPG tanks when I drove to Portland and back (top down, 90 MPH). Those two tanks were almost 300 miles.

I guess if I drove more conservatively, kept the top up more, and stayed out of VTEC and stop-and-go traffic, I could get into the upper 20s, maybe 30 MPG.

Ted

Your gas mileage is relative to your driving habits. I get 24+ MPG all the time. I never rev over 5000 - 6000 RPM
and have never VTECed in over 6000 miles.

The car is plenty fast & fun, without the high revs. I'm sure the car will last longer and reward you with better gas mileage if you keeps the revs down. I know the temptation is there to VTEC, but it's not compatible with good gas mileage.

Are you sure you have a S2000? or some lemon?

Just kidding. I can't imaging a S2000 not using V-TEC. wow, you certainly can hold your urge. I know I can not resist but to rev it up ALL THE WAY.

Ill sell you my Golf tdi for a daily driver then you can get 50 miles per gallon (600 out of a tank) in traffic!! This is my daily driver as my S2k and my S4 both suck on gas mileage (almost as bad as yours-never v-teched though only couple hundred miles on mine = DAMD WINTER!!!)
Drawback- Golf is not nearly as fun
Your choice, fast and fun or slow (engine speed) and economical. (easy choice, fun is better, but then again I do not pay SF prices for gas!!)
BTW the red line on the Golf is 4500, if you drove your S2K at 2000-3000 all day (Golf cruising speed) you would get great milage, probably not 50 per gal though.
