2002 engine knocking
Well guys Im not really in such a good mood. I am a 17 year old kid with a 2002 s2k with 76000 miles I just got in late August. I bought it from a small dealership in Dumas Texas that only gave me a 30 day warranty on the motor. In October, the car started making a ticking sound. I just thought it was the valves since they tend to start ticking. I did a valve adjustment, but same noise. I drive the car everyday since its the only car I have and I have to get to school/work and such. In about December the ticking/knocking sound started getting louder. So this January I pulled the head from the car and found out that the 3rd cylinder is all scuffed up. I dont have the kind of money to just get this fixed or replaced, and I need a car at least until school ends in May. The car still runs fine but the knocking is just plain out annoying and loud. It is most noticable at idle and when its cold you can hear it some when I start to go at a low speed. I checked the oil every week and changed it once since i'v had it. I have never had the car over 80mph either. Im thinking this happend since its and earler 2002 and has the older Banjo oil bolts. Right now im not sure what I should even try to do. Should I just start to save up for a rebuild or new engine? Please help!
