Default 2002 S200 Maintenance Question

I recently bought a 2002 S2000 with 35,000 miles that was 1 owner car. I might have to end up selling it because of an addition to the family but that is a different story..... I have noticed that after a detail and this last rain my car would get a check engine light. Both times it was a misfire code but I did not get which code it was. I am going to take my car to the dealer to see what they think, I heard it might be the spark plugs? Can anyone here shed some light on this for me? Below is my cars service history which has been done a Honda Dealer(s). My current miles are 35,400 or so....

1-29-2015 w/33,597 Miles: Oil and Filter Change and Transmission Service

33,600 miles and 14 oil and filter changes? Break-in engine oil was removed maybe 3000 miles too early but I've no clue what that might have done.. Spark plugs are good for 100,000 miles too. They may need to be torqued. Are they OEM?

They are OEM but according to the S2000 factory maintance schedule they recomend being replaced at 105,000 Miles/7 Years I am assuming that means 105,000 miles or 7 years. The car is 14 years old so I am sure it can be due because of time?

How long did your light stay on? Maybe you had a loose gas cap.

valve adjustment was my misfire issue. Do spark plug retorque to 24 lbft or just replace them and torque properly.

That would be my guess.

The 7 years to change spark plugs was dropped from later owners manuals but it won't hurt to change the plugs, they're inexpensive. New OEM plugs will come gapped and have anti-seize on the threads, don't add more. Torque spec was increased to 24 lb-ft a few years ago. Probably due to leaking plug holes.

I had my spark plugs changed at about 75k miles. I bought the car used and suspected they the plugs were still original. I saw the plugs that came out. They were shot.

It only happens when it rains?

Maybe the rubber sealing strip on the cowl is torn or leaking. Water could be getting onto the valve cover and seeping into the spark plug tubes.

Or...do you have a cold air intake?

I don't think it is that because I am usually pretty conscious about that….

I am going to have the guys at Rockstar Garage look at the car. They did a great job when I took them my car to look it over after I bought it. I had them do new oem battery and stainless steel brake lines..

I am going to have them look into this. I have been gone for a few days so hopefully I can have them look at it tomorrow…

This is what I think it is too so we will see. I have the full service history and do not remember seeing them being changed, so I am thinking mine are original as well….
