Default 2004 exhausts on 2003?

Hey,
I looked it up and posts said with a little hammering and patience you can get the 2004 exhausts on the 2000-2003? Anyone have any specifics on what needs to be done because of the change in hanger positions?

The reason i ask is because i have a 04 rear bumper on the 03 and i wanted to fill it with the mugen exhaust for 2004.

Thanks ahead of time!

Howard

The MY04 car has 2 hangers where the MY00-03 car has only 1. The MY04 hangers tip are pointed towards the rear of the car, where the single MY00-03 hanger is pointed towards the the fenders.

For example
MY04 = II
MY00 = --

Get the idea?

thanks for the reply strato .... so the MY03 has one " - " hanger while the MY04 has two like " | | " ?

maybe im going to have to track down a MY04 and take a look..

so what would you suggest to make 04 exhausts hang right on a 03?

thanks again

Yes, Exactly. MY03 has a single hanger and the MY04 has two.

Tell if I am missing something here, but you have an MY04 bumper with a pre-MY04 exhaust right? Does it fit right? If it does then I would think that any pre MY04 exhaust should fit the same, without any changes to the hangers.

If you need to have the hangers changed, any muffler shop can handle the work. They would just cut and weld the hangers on the mufflers to fit right.

Note: If the exhaust is Ti, then they can't weld it. So find something else. Welding Ti requires special skills and tools.

i think the 03 looks better.. but the 04 mugen tips are larger? (it seems) to fill the larger gap for the exhaust..

thanks for all your comments guys!

I've seen pics of an '03 Mugen exhaust on an '04 car, I don't see why the reverse wouldn't work. I have also seen many '04 cars with other aftermarket exhausts made for the '03 and they fit fine. Bionic Man has good pics of his '04 Mugen exhaust. I think you just need to mess with the rubber thingys that the hangers attatch to.
