Default 2004 S2000 Turbo

Got this together last week. Working on the AEM maps right now. The kit was 100% custom. Enjoy the pics!

Fitment of everything looks pretty good. At first, i thought your piping was from an aem intake, heh. Care to break the costs down for everyone? If its within reason, i might start to piece up a turbo kit myself to slap on in a few years down the road. Great work .

Garret GT3037 turbo $1,259.00
38mm Tial Wastegate $239.00
Blow Off Valve - Tial $239.00
Cheapturbo flanges & shipping $149.02
Pipes, welding, install $630.00
Oil feed, flanges, return line $146.00
Diff and tranny fluid $41.05
Spark Plugs $57.00
Exhaust Manifold $175.00
Intercooler $295.00
Oil Filter Relocation $265.50
650cc Injectors $416.80
Boost Control Solenoid $39.00
AEM 30-1012 + AEM WB $1,600.00
Horsepowerfreaks shipping $20.00
VTECFROG extension harness $167.01
Clutch and Flywheel $1,009.47
Oil drain fitting welded to pan 1 case of beer
Total $6,747.85

The clutch and flywheel are not installed yet. Prices include shipping and taxes where applicable. The "pipes, welding, and install" is the charge for three days of work at an exhaust shop. I was wrenching alongside one of their fabricators whenever I wasn't going after new parts. This shop built the downpipe and intercooler pipes. They also had to 'create' some clearance for the turbo in the frame of the car with a large hammer and a torch to heat the metal. That shouldn't be a problem with a normal T3/T4 in this location. I installed the AEM and WBO2 and am tuning it right now.

It is possible to do a turbo kit for less- much less. I could have done pretty much the same thing with a cheaper BOV and turbo, and a FMU and SAFC instead of the AEM for about $2500(minus the clutch). I did that on my last car... It runs great at WOT, but has some trouble with low RPM and high boost. I didn't want to do that again.

How well is the copper gasket maker working out at the W/G flange? I read the maximum operating temp for it was only 700 degrees or so.

timq: thanks for the breakdown. Although you took a pricey route, the price includes the aem ems and wide band, so its really not too bad. Basically you paid the same price as a comptech supercharger without aftercooler + aem ems and wideband. I'm really anxious to see the power curve for your set up. Hurrry and get that thing tuned!

looks good
but with all of that money spent I am still surprise to see the bleed valve. You should invest in a electronic boost controller

I haven't found out yet. On my shakedown runs, the bolts holding the wastegate came loose and destroyed my gasket. Unfortunately, the nearest turbo store is 2 states away now. I used the Ultra Copper to try to beef it up. I haven't tried running it yet, but it did survive 1500 degree exhaust temps on a Polaris snowmobile we built for a SAE competition.
