2004 S2K Idle
I own 2004 S2K and for some odd reason about 2 months ago i started noticing some idle problems the car strats no problem and doesnt seem to have any problem with power.... when the car warms up and comes to a regular idle it has like a small shimmy shake almost like if the mototr mounts were loose, which i dont see that being a problem it did die on me twice at idle speed almost like if no fuel to it and had a small delay in start but once started it was fine.... the car is still under warrantyso i took it in to honda today ... they told me thay checked all outside visual and ran obd fault codes... and nothing so the rep told me that they needed to now tear down the mototr to see if something was wrong... Is that really necessary i mean i thought mabey feul cleaning or throttlebody cleaning but at this pont i turn to the pros here on the forums for any suggestions...
thanks
thanks
I sometimes get a "shimmy" from the car at start up. I noticed it was their more in the winter.Hardly ever in the summer. My friend with an ap2 had a similar vibration when I went for a ride in his once. Never had any probs with my car. Im guessing it may be normal but am curious to see what they say. Good luck.
I have had the shimmy as well; along with a rough idle upon initial start up. The only common occurrence between my start up times was a cold morning, I don't drive my car in winter though, but a few mornings this spring have been fairly cold here in MI, and that's when I had a rough start. Just my 2 cents (MY04)

I really hope they are not serious. If they are, I would take your car to another dealer. From what you described, this is a normal occurance with our cars. In fact, mine does the exact same thing...especially when the humidity high or if it is cold outside.
What I have learned from the S2KI guru's like Xviper and others...is that our ECU sometimes gets confused and needs to "relearn". When the car starts to "shimmy" the ECU is trying to figure out what it needs to do. If you panic and hit the gas, it only hurts the learning process and takes it longer to correct.
Tearing down the motor will not solve this problem. I can't imagine why the dealer would even suggest this option
Trust me...your symptoms are NORMAL and your car will be fine. However, if I were you, I would think twice about taking my car back there for service work!
Yeah iam really starting to think the same way about the problem i dont think i want them to tear down my motor for a problem that doesnt sound like its a problem.... iam going to stop all work tommorow before they start to tear it apart and find nothing.... i knew coming here and posting i would get the answers i needed thanks for all the support...
ok so i just got off the phone with my dealer and they told me that possible problems could be a broken piston or bent valve ....... But iam really puzzled because broken piston or bent valve would mean that i would have losss of power or a alot of noise from engine....................??????????????????? can someone correct me on this..

follow the above steps before going back to that dealership. this question happens all the time becuase our cars do this by nature.

Also, you would know if you had a broken piston or bent valve.

This is asinine...Get your car out of there. It doesn't sound like anything is wrong with your car to me but, taking it to a different dealer for a 2nd opinion may be a good idea. If nothing else for peace of mind.
