Default 3 X's on my engine...

What are those X's marked on the head of the engine? You can find them directly behind the air box.

I'm assuming they're some type of reference mark for assembly. Just curious to understand what exactly is their fuction.

Number of times it has been rebuilt? J/K maybe it was some type of checklist for the manufacturers

I think it was the game of Xs and Os that the cam guy and the guy who checks your valve seals plays on each engine.

Looks like the cam guy won that day - where are your Os?

Sick day I bet. Oh well.
