Default 4.56 Gear mod advice?

hi fellas,

im looking into getting this mod done to my car. I have read many of your post's of how wonderful this mod is and to be honest with you, i cant wait to have it in my S as well.

I was looking at getting the gearset 4.57-R from ricks, though someone has told me i need to buy other parts along with the gear as well to get it to run properly? can anyone shed some light on the purpose of this and what else i would need?

being from Sydney (australia) its abit difficult to get stuff in so i want to do it right once.

Regards

John

Rick's kit I bought include a few shims, unfortauntely I needed the biggest OEM shim you can buy for my 4.625 final drive (which was not included).

You are best to source these from a machine shop locally that can manufacture a specific shim on demand. You won't know what thickness of shim you will need till you get to that part of the gear calibration. If your Honda parts departments are anything like they are here, you will be forced to buy the complete shim package (24, I think) at a horrendous price. Of course, you only need one. The rest, you can give to your wife/girlfriend to use as ear rings.
