Default 4.57 Gears and SC?

Does anyone out there have the 4.57 gearset fitted with an SC?

If so is it a good combination?

I currently have a Vortech SC and am thinking of strengthening the differential, at the same time adding the lower gearset.

What do you think?

Also who knows where I can get the best deal, bearing in mind I live in the Netherlands and shipping is an issue?

Thanks Kevin

I ordered my diff and gears, It will defenitely help down low.
Theoretically its almost as if you added more torque to your engine, how much? I dont know, but it will defenitly help you get your RPM's up faster

if i remember right, 4.77's theoretically add about 25% to 30% torque so i'd imagine the 4.57's around around the 20% mark.

i'm running sc, and about to do much the same that you're asking. soon, i'll be headed to the shop to have them install my 4.77's and comptech reinf. diff. this is in addition to my comptech sc, ac, toda header, and comptech exhaust. the car is already powerful enough, but i'm really looking forward to seeing what it can do.

you might also consider getting the 4.77's, which for the time are only $300 after rick has found a new source for the product (due to ben's help ). many complain that it's not real condusive to highway driving, but i honestly don't think it'll make that much of a difference, and the added power with a lower price tag is rather appealing.

It is a simple calculation of mechanical advantage.
Given that 4.10 is stock,
4.44's is about 8.3% more than stock.
4.57's is about 11.5% more.
4.77's is about 16.3% more.
One cannot really say that you add this much more power and torque. You make the power and torque that's there work that much more efficient.

What are the top speeds on the 4.44, 4.57, 4.77 gears, does it limit top end that much?

This has been asked many times and there will always be a question of at what point (gear ratio) will the available power and torque be able to overcome the limitations of top speed as governed by drag.
Using this calculator:
http://www.geocities.com/fkflee/
We know that the stock geared car in stock form can top out around 150 mph but is geared to go nearly 170.
A 4.44 car (otherwise stock), is "geared" to top out around 159. A 4.57 car about 154. A 4.77 car about 148.
I think we can be pretty sure that the 4.77 car will reach its geared top speed and most likely the 4.57 car will too, but will the 4.44 reach it's geared top speed of 159? Will making the power and torque of the 4.44's 8% more efficient allow the car to go just a bit faster than the stock 4.10 car? I don't know.

I have a Comptech S/C. Putting the aftercooler on next week. I am waiting for Ganley Honda to finish my rear end. I am supposed to get the first 4.57s. They have had my Comptech rearend, KAAZ LSD, and all new bearings and seals for three months. I am waiting for the gears to be delivered, then they promise they will have my rearend back in 48 hrs. The Comptech housing was Thermal Treated for extra strength.

I believe them Jeff seems really nice there and they have a lot of experience install the gears.

Once I get the Toda flywheel, ACT clutch, under drive pulley, 440s, AEM comuter and J's short shifter installed I will post again to tell you how I like the the S/C and gear combo.
