Default #4 Engine Failure - What Next ?

Honda has graciously decided to cover my "bottom" end that is, after my #4 cylinder scored. By the way, if you are seeing an increase in oil consumption - that is a warning sign.

Anyway, I am looking for some opinions on whether I should keep this car or not.

They are putting in a new block, crank, cylinders and rings.

Thank You

Would a compression test point to a possible failure in the future?

so... a shortblock? Sure why not keep it, thats what the warranty is for. Not ALL cars are perfect, thats why there is a warranty offered/given by the factory. Its to cover the potential human error or defect in the car . Honda makes the one of the most if not the most reliable line of cars on the road. In a nutshell, you can't go wrong by keeping it

I go through a quart every 2000 miles; essentially always have. I'm not the least worrried. If it suddenly and dramatically change to 1000 miles, then I'd be concerned.

Thumbs up

Hey Rusty, can you elaborate on the oil usage and what you observed? Want to know because it seems as if my oil usage could be rising. Almost a whole quart in about 500 miles. Seem like a lot? Does to me. It has 21,500 miles on the engine. How can they test for this?

It is normal to add a little oil after 3,500 miles. I add a little bit of oil after 500-1,000 miles.

Do you track your car? You run this thing hard or what? Regardless, almost a whole quart in only 500 miles is an awful lot of oil.

Damn...I'm getting worried too. I burned almost 3/4 a quart after one hard track day. What's the best way to tell if there is a probem?
