Default 4th gear whine

Hey guys-

I've tried like heck searching for 4th gear whine on here, but it always returns me results for rear differential noise with 4.xx gears

In 4th gear I have an audible whine that gets higher and lower pitched with speed, on or off the gas (though louder when on the gas light to moderate and at a lower RPM...3k or so). I assume the noise is still there in higher RPM's and when I floor it in fourth, it's just that there is so much other noise and it becomes high pitched to the point I can't hear it. I know it must not be the rear dif, as driving the same speed in 3rd or 5th results in no noise.

To be honest, I'm not terribly concerned over it as it really isn't that loud...but I do want to make sure I'm not the only one that experiences this. It sounds similar to the gearbox whine that my Mazdaspeed3 can make.

Thoughts?

Oh forgot...car has 31k on it. Bought it with 28k and nearly immediately changed the transmission and rear diff fluid.

Honda MTF and LE 607 in the diff. Tranny fluid looked fine as well as the diff fluid. Both just a bit dirty.

Also, the more I think about it the noise is definitely at it's loudest when cruising in 4th. When you give it gas it actually becomes quieter.

mine isn't like that. You definately have a problem with the 4th gear or syncro.

Crap.

It drives and shifts totally fine though. I will say the noise is actually a bit louder in the video than when actually in the car. I think sitting the camera where I did picked up a sweet spot.

So what the heck do I do now?

Did you do the tranny fluid yourself?
Are you certain there is enough fluid in there?

Did you you fill the trans fluid till it started to drip out of the top hole? I bought two quarts and had a little less than half a quart left when I changed mines.

Did the exact same thing. I've changed fluid before
