Default 5th gear unavailable

Hi all,

during a race at the track my 5th gear got lost.
After hitting a curb with the underbody (I guess ther ewas a shock onto the gearbox)

I cant get 5th gear in anymore.

All other gears work fine.

Does anzone have an idea what this could be?

Maybe the lever inside the gearbox which moved the different gears is broken or moved?

am I able to repair this myself or is the s2000 box too complicated?

best Thanks for any input!

regards,

stocky

The two most likely causes are either a bent/damaged gear selection shift fork, or the synchro. Both problems are not simple fixes (internal).
The S2000's gearbox is not a unique design, but it's a tight package. If you know your way around the inside of a manual transmission, you should be able to work on this one. The gearbox does have tight clearances and requires some special tools.

There are pictures of the primairy & counter shaft "somewhere" on sk2i.
Sorry I can't help you to locate them.
IIRC Billman posted them.. or Slow.
It was a topic about synchro damage.

I am pretty sure i am not going to do it myself if i mention to break my tranny, consider i did do a few civic b series transaxle before with success.

the closest i gone is pulled the miata tranny, to say the least, if you don't know what you looking for you will not able to put it back together, it's all about clearance and spec. The linkage of my miata trans was sitting super slightly off and it will not shift at all.
