I'd get in there ASAP and make them drain it & put the right oil for the car in ...... 10W30.

And once you've gotten them to correct this gross error, don't ever let them touch your S again. Wanna bet next time you go in for service, they'll try to rotate your tires and put VTM-4 fluid into your rear diff (bye-bye rear diff). That dealership has just proven they cannot be trusted to do anything with an S2000.

man were they blind or something? they can't read the 10w30 wieght on the oil cap. Make sure that you get that oil out of your system ASAP. Stop taking your car to that dealership and learn to do oil change by yourself.

Not to worry, Xleez...

I run 0-30 in my race motor with 14.5 to 1 pistons and a 10k redline. And I run all season without changing it. Now truth be told that's only about 100 miles of racing or about 20 passes down the salt. But it's from a dead stop every time with a not really too warmed up motor followed by 100 or so seconds of WFO leaving my foot in it when I shift and letting the rev limiter save the engine.

The oil changer foks may be lame, but the egineers at Honda have saved your bacon with a well built mill.

Keep the shiny side up.

Jim

How a Honda dealership could make such a mistake is incomprehensible. I would keep these events well documented in case you have future engine related problems...you can claim back any damages from the dealership.

After a Honda dealer put the wrong oil filter in my car, I started doing all of my own oil changes...even in the freezing cold of winter. I can't believe some of the idiots they have working at dealerships these days.

At one Honda dealer, I had brought in my own oil (Mobil 1) for the oil change and I found out the tech kept my oil for himself and just put the regular crappy stuff in my car. Not only are they incompetent...they're thieves as well. My advice is to learn to do your own oil changes. Once you get the hang of it, it takes less than a half hour.

just a note on reading & content .... not on the oil used.... where does it say he took the car to a 'Honda' dealer for the oil change?

5w20 may not be immediately detrimental to the engine, however, keep this in mind.

5w20 will be much thinner than 5w30 and will not have the proper viscosity the engine was designed for. while there may be no immediate danger, the long term effect could be akin to playing russian roulette.

engines are designed around a specific oil viscosity. not the other way around. 5w20 is too thin to properly protect this engine. if it wasn't, it'd be listed by honda as one of the weights that are ok to use on the car.
